The Alaska State Troopers report that Randy James Golodoff was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning. The driver was apparently Gilbert Tootoo, who was speeding in his pickup truck down Northern Lights Boulevard. Tootoo apparently struck a light pole and flipped his vehicle. Mr. Golodoff was apparently thrown, dying at the scene.

First, the Golodoff family needs to immediately contact an attorney to help them with this case. There are countless insurance issues that need addressed.

Second, the Golodoff family needs to cooperate with the police - trying to get a copy of their investigative report. That report will be critical for filing related insurance claims. Those claims will include: (1) medical bills; (2) lost wages; and (3) pain/suffering pursuant to Alaska Statute 09.55.570 and 09.55.580.

Third, remember that the Statute of Limitations for personal injury / wrongful death in Alaska is two years. It is thus critical that they contact an attorney ASAP to help get the ball rolling.

In terrible situations like this, the injury is done. All the Golodoff family can hope to do is ensure that whatever insurance is available is paid in full. They are entitled to at least that much. Remember, it is OK for Mr. Golodoff to have been drinking - he wasn't driving. If Mr. Tootoo was drinking, that is even more reason to contact a lawyer.

The Golodoff family is in our prayers.
