The AP reports that pedestrian John Kokuluk, 56 was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Anchorage on Lake Otis Parkway near 36th Avenue early this morning. The Troopers are looking for a silver import SUV or pickup truck with damage on the driver's side.

Mr. Kokuluk's family should immediately contact the Troopers. They should gather the police report. Most importantly, they should wait to find out who did this. The police almost always find the bad-guys in these situations.

Also, claims should be filed against both the bad guy, Mr. Kokuluk's own automobile insurance carrier, and the insurance carrier for every person living in Mr. Kokuluk's household. This is VERY important. It's called Uninsured Motorist insurance - and will help Mr. Kokuluk's family get past this tragedy.

Finally, the Statute of Limitations for personal injury / death in Alaska is two years. DO NOT DELAY.

The Kokuluk family is in our prayers.
