The AP reports that Jason M. Lantieri died 10/10/07 in Iraq - from injuries suffered in a car crash.

Sgt. Lantieri was stationed in Ft. Richardson, Alaska. His family should closely examine its right to bring insurance claim(s) for this loss. Specifically, Sgt. Lantieri's family should consider bringing Uninsured Motorist claims under all policies that may apply to this wreck. Those insurance policies include: (1) all of Sgt. Lantieri's vehicles in Alaska; (2) all insurance policies on vehicles owned by family members (related by blood or marriage) living within Sgt. Lantieri's household when he was killed; and (3) all vehicles he might have owned in his home-state of Connecticut.

Remember, the reason we buy Uninsured Motorist coverage is to protect our family when we are injured/killed by an uninsured motorist. The Lantieri family would be well advised to: (1) keep its eye on the applicable Statute of Limitations for claims such as this - any delay may terminate their legal rights; and (2) immediately file claims with all insurers who might be responsible for this loss. It would also make sense to hire an attorney who is knowledgeable in this area of law. It's complicated.

The Lantieri family is in our prayers. This war has to stop, now. Too many have died.
