The AP reports that Matthew Brent Gifford was charged with second degree murder in the automobile related death of Christopher Jenkins in April. Gifford apparently had alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and other illicit drugs in his system when Jenkins was killed. Jenkins' family needs to hire a good personal injury attorney NOW, and ...
1. File liability claims against Gifford's insurer. Be sure to include AS 09.17.020 and AS 09.60.070 claims to ensure that your efforts bear fruit;
2. File Underinsured motorist claims against Mr. Jenkins' own insurer. Look out for other U/UIM insurance with family members, living with Jenkins at the time of his passing;
3. Keep an eye on the 2 year Statute of Limitations. Claims must be settled, or filed in court within two years (normally) or rights to compensation will be lost. This is VERY important. Hire an attorney today; and
